To The One Who Feels Their Efforts Are Futile

We often don’t see the seeds of faith we planted come to full bloom in the lives of others. We serve faithfully and trust in God to do the rest. But one day, when we arrive in heaven, the seeds of faith we planted in the lives of others will be fully revealed. You will see how the biblical encouragement you gave to a weary stranger gave them the strength to continue on— how the words of hope you spoke to them impacted the trajectory of their life. You will see how the hours you spent teaching and preparing for the Sunday school class were not wasted— that the truth you taught rooted itself so deeply in their young hearts that even decades later, they could find the hope of the gospel buried deep within. You will see how the years you spent praying for that person did in fact make a huge difference— how God was listening to your prayers, working behind the scenes in ways unseen by you. You will see how the one person you worked so hard to bring to Christ, grew up and brought hundreds more into the Kingdom of God— that the salvation of those hundreds depended on your faithfulness to bring that one person to Jesus. You will see how the kindness you continually showed to that difficult person, softened their heart, making it possible for the gospel to penetrate their heart in a way it was never able to before. Your efforts and faithfulness make a difference in God’s Kingdom. Just keep being faithful to what is right in front of you, no matter how small it may seem. One day, you may find out that it was the culmination of small acts that made the biggest eternal impact.
